Dort Financial Credit Union Sponsors Annual Catholic Charities Collection, Donates Funds For Those In Need This Winter
Dort Financial Credit Union is the sponsor and donation location for the annual 25 Days of Giving, benefitting Genesee and Shiawassee Counties’ Catholic Charities. The annual 25 Days Of Giving event is held each December in the lead up to Christmas Day, when local families in need will receive necessary winter items.
The Credit Union has partnered with NBC 25, FOX 66, and CW46 once again to promote the event in hopes of spreading the word that Catholic Charities is need of donations now more than ever before.
“Due to the pandemic, there has been an increased need for essential items all over the world. Many people were affected financially and either found themselves in a situation where they could not give to charities or were in need of help themselves,” said Nicole Sterling, Community Relations Coordinator at Dort Financial. “We see that need locally as well, and Dort Financial is taking a small step to make sure these families get some help this winter season.”
Those wanting to contribute may drop off any non-perishable food items, personal care items, winter coats, hats, gloves, and mittens to any of the 10 Dort Financial Credit Union branch locations beginning December 1st through Christmas, during business hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Dort Financial Credit Union also made a donation of $1,000 to Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties’ fund for the victims of the November 22nd Flint home explosion. Twenty-seven homes were damaged or destroyed in the explosion, many of those families now relying on the community for shelter, food, and essentials.
