Dort Financial Credit Union Presents Annual Scholarships
Fifteen Local Students Recognized at Credit Union’s Annual Meeting
Dort Financial Credit Union presented 15 area students with $1,000 scholarships through its annual scholarship program this week at the local credit union’s annual membership meeting.
Dort Financial’s Board of Directors Scholarship Committee announced the winners and presented the 2023 Harry Awdish Memorial Student Scholarships in front of a crowd of about 50 people at the meeting, including several of the scholarship winners and their families.
The winners included Avery Beckman, Dulcee Beechler, Sophie Crane, Emma Dubie, Tanisha Francis, Victoria Griffith, Elizabeth Huggler, Samantha Jarbou, Tyler Kohlmann, Aleesia Mangham, Erin McVey, Kameron Motley, Benjamin Stoica, Ava Watson, and Ellery Williams.
The recipients, who were required to apply for the scholarship, were selected based on a variety of criteria including their academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and service to their communities.
The students also wrote a brief essay explaining what “Being Financially Responsible” means to them, according to Dort Financial Scholarship Committee Chair Beverly Kittle.
The recipients will use their funds as they take the next step in their educational journey to universities and colleges across the nation, Kittle noted.
“Dort Financial truly believes in fulfilling dreams and supporting community,” said Dort Financial Credit Union Board of Directors Chairperson, Wayne Natzke. “Helping these students take the next steps in their education is important to us. We are proud to play a small roll in their journey by awarding the scholarships annually. The program is another way that we show our commitment to our community.”
In 2022, Dort Financial donated over $200,000 to support our communities, and team members volunteered at more than 40 events.
Dort Financial extends a sincere congratulations to all the recipients on their academic achievements and wish them success in their future endeavors, Natzke added.
